Guinea’s President Doumbouya Reappoints Amadou Oury Bah As Prime Minister - 1wk ago

Guinea’s newly elected President Mamady Doumbouya has reappointed Amadou Oury Bah as the country’s prime minister and head of government, a key step in forming his administration following his inauguration earlier this month.

The decision was formalised through a presidential decree read on national television, confirming Bah’s role in coordinating government action and implementing national policies amid Guinea’s ongoing socio-economic challenges.

Bah, a seasoned politician and key ally of President Doumbouya, previously served as prime minister during the transitional period and was widely expected to continue in the role as Guinea transitions from years of military governance to constitutional order under the newly adopted constitution.

His reappointment follows the collective resignation of the previous government, submitted in line with constitutional tradition after the December 28, 2025 presidential election that ushered Doumbouya into office for a seven-year term.

The presidency also announced plans to soon unveil the composition of the new cabinet, which is anticipated to include 27 ministries and additional secretariats proposed by the prime minister.

Observers say Bah’s reconfirmation signals continuity in government priorities, with a focus on economic development, administrative reforms and maintaining stability as Guinea seeks to strengthen democratic institutions and pursue its development agenda.
