Nigerian football supporters have taken to social media to criticise Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen following an angry on-field confrontation with teammate Ademola Lookman during Nigeria’s 4-0 Africa Cup of Nations round-of-16 win over Mozambique. The incident unfolded in the 63rd minute when Osimhen was seen shouting at Lookman after a missed passing opportunity, prompting captain Wilfred Ndidi to intervene before the striker signalled for a substitution and left the pitch to boos from the crowd. 

Fans on X described Osimhen’s behaviour as disrespectful and overly emotional, arguing it overshadowed a dominant team performance and questioning his attitude toward teammates. Some urged the Nigeria Football Federation to take action, while others said his conduct risks dividing the squad. Despite the backlash, Lookman himself downplayed the incident after the match, stressing that there is “no bad blood” and that team unity remains the priority.
