My Review Of "the Herd" By Daniel Etim Effiong - 2wks ago

Honestly, watching The Herd felt like someone grabbed Nigeria’s insecurity, shook it in my face, and said, “Oya, look well!” Daniel Etim Effiong didn’t come to play at all. From the wedding scene that switched to pure chaos, I was hooked  and low key angry at how real it felt.

What I loved most is how the movie doesn’t pretend. It’s raw, unsettling, and painfully familiar. The performances were solid, especially Genoveva Umeh  that girl carried emotion like it was oxygen. And Daniel? Directing and acting at the same time like he has four heads. Respect.

Is it uncomfortable? Yes.

Is it entertaining? Absolutely.

Did it make me think about this country again? Unfortunately, yes.

But that’s what makes it good. The Herd isn’t just a movie, it’s a mirror we’ve been avoiding.

I’ll give it a strong 8/10. Not perfect, but definitely worth the hype.
