Team USA started their journey at the 2024 Paris Olympics with a strong celebrity presence. Tom Cruise, Nick Jonas, and Lady Gaga were in attendance at the women's artistic gymnastics qualifiers at Bercy Arena on July 28 to support U.S. gymnasts Simone Biles, Jordan Chiles, Jade Carey, Suni Lee, and newcomer Hezly Rivera. Both Nick and Gaga shared personal videos of Simone, the most decorated gymnast of all time, showcasing her talent on the balance beam.
"Incredible. Legend. @simonebiles #olympics," the Jonas Brothers singer wrote on his Instagram, while the pop queen captioned her clip, "She nailed it," adding, “What an honor to be so close!!!”
Despite earning the highest score of 14.733 with her routine, Simone encountered calf pain during warm-up for the floor exercise, leading to her left ankle being wrapped. Nevertheless, she persevered, finishing the qualifiers strongly alongside her teammates, gearing up for the team final on July 30.
Also at the gymnastics qualifiers, Greta Gerwig, Anna Wintour, and Baz Luhrmann were seated together, cheering loudly, along with Snoop Dogg, Chrissy Teigen, John Legend, Luna, 8, and Miles, 6, who were near Nick. The family, also parents to Esti, 17 months, and Wren, 13 months, accompanied their eldest kids to the Olympics Opening Ceremony on July 26. Chrissy captured a heartwarming moment on Instagram Stories showing Miles waving the Team USA flag while John shouted, "USA, baby!" Chrissy also posted a photo of herself and the kids holding handmade "SIMONE" signs.
