Abigail nodded, but he could tell she wasn't buying it. She turned back to her coffee, but he could sense her eyes on him, searching for the truth.
He felt a pang of guilt and tried to change the subject. "Hey, how was your morning?"
Abigail shrugged. "It was good. Just getting some work done. But I did notice you didn't come home last night."
He sighed, knowing he couldn't keep avoiding the truth. "Abigail, we need to talk."
She looked at him, her expression softening. "What is it? You're scaring me."
He took a deep breath, trying to find the right words. "I... I was with someone last night."
Abigail's eyes narrowed. "What do you mean?"
He hesitated, knowing this was the moment of truth. "I was with another"
Abigail's face fell, and she looked away, trying to process what he was about saying.
