As Nigeria marks its 65th year of independence, the Federal Government held a special thanksgiving service on Sunday at the National Ecumenical Centre in Abuja, bringing together top government officials, security chiefs, and their spouses to offer prayers and give thanks for the nation.

 Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Secretary to the Government George Akume, Finance Minister Wale Edun, former Plateau Governor Simon Lalong, and Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa were among the dignitaries in attendance.

Also present were the service chiefs, including the Chief of Naval Staff Vice-Admiral Emmanuel Ogala, the Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, the Comptroller-General of Immigration Mrs. Kemi Nandap, and the Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service Sylvester Nwakuche, among others. The service builds up to the official Independence Day celebrations under this year's theme, “Nigeria @ 65: All Hands on Deck for a Greater Nation.”
