US President Joe Biden is “absolutely” committed to his re-election bid, despite growing concerns from Democratic allies about his age and health, according to his campaign chair, Jen O’Malley Dillon. Speaking on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, Dillon acknowledged that Biden’s support has waned since his underwhelming debate performance against Donald Trump but emphasized that the President is dedicated to winning in November.

“Absolutely the president’s in this race,” Dillon stated. “Joe Biden is more committed than ever to beat Donald Trump.” She reiterated that Biden is focused on winning and intends to serve a second term.

Currently, Biden is self-isolating at his Delaware beach house after contracting Covid. Concerns about his viability have been voiced by senior Democrats, including former President Barack Obama and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Additionally, twenty House Democrats and two senators have urged him to withdraw from the race.

Dillon admitted the campaign has struggled, particularly following Biden’s performance in the June 27 debate. “We’ve definitely seen some slippage in support,” she said, though she described the decline as modest. Recent polls have shown Biden trailing Trump, including in crucial battleground states.
