Herdsmen Kill Two Brothers In Their Farm In Benue - 2 months ago

Benue State is once again in the headlines for all the wrong reasons as two brothers, including a promising university graduate, were brutally killed in what locals are calling a herdsmen attack. The incident, which happened in Gwer West Local Government Area, has left the entire community reeling and demanding answers.

Sources say Terna Iorliam, who had just finished university and was waiting for his NYSC posting, and his younger brother, a secondary school student, were simply tending their family farm when tragedy struck. The brothers reportedly left home early, as usual, but never returned. Their bodies were later found in the fields, showing clear signs of violence. The community is in shock, and the family is devastated.

Community leaders wasted no time in blaming the government and security agencies for failing to protect innocent citizens. “We are devastated by this loss,” a local chief declared, calling the attack yet another example of the government’s inability to secure rural areas. Residents are now living in fear, wondering who might be next.

The Benue State Police Command has confirmed the killings and claims that investigations are underway. Security operatives have been deployed to the area, but locals remain skeptical, pointing out that such attacks have become all too common despite repeated promises of action.

Benue, known as the “Food Basket of the Nation,” has become a battleground for deadly farmer-herder clashes. Despite anti-open grazing laws and other government measures, violence continues to erupt, leaving many to question whether authorities are truly in control.

The deaths of Terna Iorliam and his brother have sparked outrage and renewed calls for urgent government intervention.
