Tinubu Approves Deployment Of Four Ambassador-Designates - 1 month ago

President Bola Tinubu has approved the posting of four ambassador-designates, marking the first batch of diplomatic deployments from the 68 nominees earlier confirmed by the Senate in December. The approval signals the federal government’s move to strengthen Nigeria’s diplomatic presence and re-engage key international partners after months of vacancies in several foreign missions.

Among those posted are Ambassador-designate Are, who has been assigned to the United States, and Ambassador-designate Oke, who will serve as Nigeria’s envoy to France. The United States and France are considered strategic partners to Nigeria in areas such as security cooperation, trade, education, and global diplomacy, making the appointments particularly significant.

Sources within the presidency said additional postings are expected in phases, as the government finalises arrangements for other confirmed nominees. The staggered deployment is seen as part of efforts to reposition Nigeria’s foreign service, enhance bilateral relations, and ensure effective representation of the country’s interests abroad.
