I know this sounds absurd but hear me out
Okay I’m pretty sure all the concepts in this story are well understood. Animes are Japanese animations( not cartoons) and virtues are positive character traits, habits, and dispositions that reflect high moral standards, excellence, and righteousness. Now, is there a connection between anime and virtuousness? Let’s see
Okay, my good friend google says there is no evidence to prove this, because I mean who would want to, but research and discussions on the topic indicate that anime often promotes specific values and can positively influence viewers. Now it does this in several ways.
Research and discussions on the topic indicate that anime often promotes specific values and can positively influence viewers. This is basically all they do. Like Disney, the good people always win no matter how pitiable or relatable they are. They make virtuous very deep and important, exaggerated to them as important as they are.
Let’s talk about some animes and the virtues they promote. First on the list based on popularity is one piece for those of you that have watched it, or are watching it, we can see Loyalty, Friendship, Freedom, and Perseverance displayed so obviously. This guys were loyal to themselves and to their crew mates(friends) I mean I left my whole family to sail the vast dangerous sea with you what a great sacrifice. Show me a better sign of friendship. Speaking of sacrifice, we have full metal alchemist, you can’t gain something without giving something in return, that’s pure Sacrifice, Responsibility, Integrity, and Family. You are responsible for the consequence of your actions no matter the noble intent it. For a younger example, we have my hero academia this follows children teaching us Courage, Selflessness, Hard Work, and Duty fighting where adults should have fought that’s selfless yo. Next we have demon slayer, fighting with Compassion and Resilience for Family Bond. Bro made death joyful for his enemies show me something more virtuous.
The list is endless really and I’m no anime advocate but If you do watch anime this is a cal to make us proud. These virtues aren’t just to be watched but emulated. That is when you can really be called an otaku. There are no data to make the connection so we will call it a day here
