On Wednesday July 16th 2025, we had a cultural day presentation on GST 112 course “Nigeria People and Culture”at the Convocation Ground. First, we need to understand the meaning of Culture. Culture is a total way of life. And the course is about different cultures in Nigeria and its citizens. And we were given a project before that day to present our culture in different cultural backgrounds. And different departments of communication and media studies were to present different cultures. And go showcase our cultural foods, dance, language,rituals, drama etc. different cultural dances were held and the Yoruba, Igbo, idoma, Hausa, Tiv, Gbagyi and other Nigeria culture. Various cultural foods were presented too to the lecturers. We had different interesting cultural dance, where different students showcased their different cultural attires. Some cultures also acted Drama, like the Yoruba drama was my favorite, and it was about a king who was trying to choose a beautiful maiden to be his wife. And the Tiv drama was also my favorite. Languages were spoken too. I was also fascinated by the traditional clothing on display, each cultural attire telling a story on its own. and the performances were interesting with cultural music, dance and theater blending of sound and movement. I was also captivated by the energy and passion of the student performance who brought their cultures to life. As the cultural day event went on exploring, we watched many students from different backgrounds with their unique story to tell. We all shared laughter, experiences and traditions. And my department Film and multimedia studies presented the Gbayi culture, by their cultural dance, speech and food presentation. They performed really well on showcasing the Gbagyi culture, and they also presented the Gbagyi food to the Lecturer and his guest. And pictures, videos were taken too. The cultural day was really in full swing, showcasing the diverse of traditions and customs of the cultural community. The cultural day event was more than just a celebration, it was a reminder of the richness and diversity that surrounds us. And it was a chance to learn new things about various cultures, to grow and appreciate the differences that makes us stronger. It was Indeed a wonderful experience showcasing the beautiful culture of Nigeria!
