Suspected Female Kidnapper Narrowly Escapes Death Following Mob Attack in Ilorin
Panic broke out at the popular Ipata Market in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Thursday morning when a lady identfy as Khadija was accused of attempting to abduct a child was nearly lynched by an angry mob.
According to eyewitnesses, Khadija was allegedly caught while trying to lure a child away before traders and passersby raised an alarm.
“She was beaten mercilessly and almost lynched, but she miraculously survived after police arrived and quickly rushed her to a hospital,” an eyewitness disclosed.
The situation escalated rapidly as the crowd descended on the suspect, subjecting her to severe beating. Police officers, however, intervened just in time to rescue her from certain death.
Authorities have yet to disclose the identity of the woman or the hospital where she is receiving treatment. Items allegedly found in her possession included four ATM cards and several documents, raising suspicion that she might belong to a wider kidnapping network.
The development sparked mixed reactions across the market community, with many residents expressing frustration over rising cases of attempted child abductions in the metropolis.
