The viral video of the altercation between Nyesom Wike( Minister of FCT) & Yarima, the Nigerian naval officer is a prove that the Nigerian military personnel is an agent to tackle corruption and misuse of political power by elected officials. The act is commendable because it's crystal clear that the minister is indirectly dictating order for the military officer to follow which says under “Section 130(1-2) , 217(2), 218(1-8) of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, The president shall be the head of state, the chief Executive of the Federation and Commander-in-chief of the Armed forces.” This is saying that the only civilian that is capable of dictating operational order to the Armed force is the President.
This means no Minister or governor can give orders to military personnel while Wike is acting the opposite way. This is not only affecting our National image but also how other countries see or perceive the constitutional power of Nigeria.
This is a stain on the political sector of Nigeria which can never be erased.
The act of bravery by the officer is commendable and should be awarded by the Armed forces of Nigeria but it takes a lot of courage to stand against powerful government officials. To see someone like him is very rare because of the fear of the misuse of power that can be used to shut them up like any other victim.
In the interview of Nyesom Wike he talked about intimidation and lawlessness in the country playing the victim card. The mood and tone of the minister clearly state that he's the one intimidating and not acting according to the constitution of the state. I'm very sure the whole Armed forces is proud of this guy for his act of bravery.
On the way round, there are many controversial topics about how Wike has power to go to the land according to the land act of FCT, should we say the Naval officer is wrong? 😂.
A lot to say about this matter
I rest my case
