Theo didn’t finish reading the program, he scanned the hall with his eyes and caught Conner’s eyes. He gave him a what-on-earth-is-this, look. Conner smiled before giving him a, he-made-you-the-sole-heir-you-should-thank-him-for-it, look.
Theo was mad, he didn’t want to thank his grandfather or say anything, he just wanted to sit and watch. But managed to remain calm, staring at the program in front of him. For how long would Conner continue to keep important things from him? What was he supposed to say in front of all these people?
Summer felt his uneasiness and she knew the T.S she saw on the program were the abbreviations of Theo’s name.
“You can do this okay,” she whispered and he looked at her from the corner of his eyes, without saying a word to her, “Just think about all the good memories,”
Theo could barely concentrate on the service as he rehearsed his speech in his head. Soon, it was time for reflections by family and friends, one by one, they got up walked elegantly to the front and said beautiful words about his late grandfather.
He grinned as excitement ran through his body like a flow of current in water. He knew exactly what to do. He had given them a hook when he walked into the church earlier, now all he had to do was to give them a cliff hanger.
“Next we will have the eulogy by T.S,” the moderator called and the people waited in silence, then when nobody stood up, they began to look around and murmur.
