GAMBLING: BENEFICIAL OR DETRIMENTAL - 3 months ago

In our world of today, the act of gambling has become a norm in the lives of the youth.

Some say gambling is addictive and an unwise thing to do.

In fact, some persons see gambling as irrational. Well, I acknowledge and recognize their views but I think gambling is beneficial in some way.

Now, what are the benefits of gambling?

Gambling has changed the lives of many. It has created opportunities and established businesses for many as well.

I support gambling because of various reasons.

Firstly, gambling isn't illegal and it does not involve taking a life or hurting anyone. Gambling is basically using the little you have to get more or even win big. It's more like a give-and-take affair.

There are some times I lose money from gambling and on the flip side, I win some money too. So it's either way.

Since I know it's a game of uncertainty, I stake what I can afford to lose. I don't just go ahead to invest my life savings in gambling. I stake a little and hope that it yields rewards for me after every game.

But there again, there are some youths that abuse the activity (gambling) and this is where it becomes detrimental.

Some go as far as selling their treasures just to place a bet to win big. This is where addiction steps in. The assumed youth cannot do without it. It's sometimes like Nicotin to hard drug takers.

Furthermore, as one plays and continues to lose, there's this innate mindset that says "don't worry, you can still hit it big" and then one goes on to play multiple games and sometimes go as far as borrowing.

Before one realizes what's going on, addiction is already a part of the person and it becomes difficult to abstain from.

Finally, I can say that gambling is a right choice, but dependent on how one plays it.
