My experience as a JAMB candidate was extremely stressful, from generating my profile code to completing the registration process. Being under 18 and having my NIN unlinked to my SIM card made me fear I wouldn’t be able to generate a profile code. When I went to the MTN office, I was told it couldn’t be linked, and I was devastated. However, when I tried again right there, it surprisingly worked. I felt overwhelmed with relief and excitement knowing I could finally sit for the exam.

Registration at the JAMB centre was another ordeal. I arrived early, wrote my name, and was number 86 on the list, but the process was disorganized. Entry depended on connections, and since I had none, I waited for six exhausting hours—standing under the sun, hungry, and repeatedly begging the gateman to let me in. When I finally explained my situation to a staff member, he helped me purchase the form, although it was too late to complete the registration that day. Still, I remained hopeful.

The next day, I was allowed in immediately since I had already bought the form. After waiting four more hours, the registration itself took less than ten minutes. I was relieved and promised myself never to go through the JAMB process again.

Preparation for the exam was tiring. Although I started motivated, I grew weary over time until my parents reminded me how important this opportunity was. Their words reignited my determination, and I studied seriously.

On the exam day, I arrived early with my dad and waited for hours before being searched and seated. I was nervous, but once the exam began, everything felt surprisingly easy. Contrary to what I had heard, JAMB was not as difficult as people claimed. With God’s help and careful checking of my answers, I completed the exam confidently.

When the results were released, they spoke for themselves. My parents were proud, and although I felt I could have scored higher, I was satisfied that I had proven everyone wrong.
