Donald Trump scheduled a surprise media event for Thursday at his Florida resort amid growing concerns about his presidential campaign and a surge in poll numbers for his rival, Kamala Harris.

He announced the "general news conference" in a brief post on his Truth Social platform. Harris, along with her new running mate Tim Walz, has energized the Democratic base, attracting large and enthusiastic crowds in her bid to challenge Trump in the upcoming election.

Since President Joe Biden's withdrawal from the race last month, Harris has dramatically shifted the electoral landscape, raising substantial funds and overcoming Trump's previous lead in polls. 

Reports indicate that Trump is frustrated with his campaign's performance against Harris and the media attention it is garnering. Additionally, he is reportedly dissatisfied with his own running mate, J.D. Vance, who has been criticized for his lackluster public speaking skills and failure to connect with voters.
