📖BIBLE TEXT: ISAIAH 40:1-3
🔎📖 Isaiah 40:3 “A voice of one calling:
“In the wilderness prepare the way for the Lord;
make straight in the desert a highway for our God.”
Why do roads often have to bend and snake through mountains and hills when they would be shorter if they were made straight? It is because the constructors are avoiding obstacle and are seeking paths of least resistance. But the shortest distance between two points is a straight line! So, God charges us to prepare the way for His coming by making straight ways in the wildernesses and deserts of our lives. John The Baptist answered this call and preached from the bank of River Jordan, removing stones for some and making straight the issues for some. Let us prepare the people for the coming King!
👉🏽 PREPARE THE WAY
Isaiah 62:10 “Pass through, pass through the gates! Prepare the way for the people. Build up, build up the highway! Remove the stones. Raise a banner for the nations.”
The wilderness means the raw, unploughed, virgin land and it is normally full of obstacles. Anyone starting a construction project there, must first clear the stones. So God wants us to remove the stones that block others and make them not to receive the light of salvation. What excuses do people have for not turning to God? Observe how John the Baptists dealt with people’s excuses by answering their questions. Let us help them set stones aside by helping them deal with these issues that form their objections and sources of obstructions. Do you desire to see people come to faith? Prepare them for the Lord!
👉🏽 MAKE STRAIGHT THE WAY
Hebrews 12:13 KJV
“and make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed.”
When the fields are cleared of obstacles to make roads, then the graders come to make it smooth. Unbelievers need the stones to be removed while young believers need the path to be made smooth for them. Smoothening is done by deliberate teachings, repeating cardinal truths, emphasizing Christian ethics, upholding the authority of scripture and cultivating the discipline of discipleship. The current realities all over the world have made it very difficult for unbelievers to come to faith and more so for young believers to deepen their roots. Let us arise and help them by removing the stones and smoothening their paths. In helping others to stand, we show that we are standing. Let us arise and prepare the way in the wilderness for the Lord!

PRAYER 🙏🏾
Faithful Father! Please deliver me from a passive attitude to the salvation of others. Please brand my spirit with the conviction that I am saved to serve. I receive the grace to remove stones and make straight paths for the feet of seekers of the Kingdom, in Jesus name. Amen!
