Actress Eniola Badmus Threatens Lawsuit Over Prostitution Allegation - 5 hours ago

Nollywood star and political aide Eniola Badmus has threatened legal action against a social media user who accused her of running a prostitution ring that allegedly connects young women to influential figures in Nigeria’s film and political circles.

The controversy erupted after an X user with the handle @Femzydr1 alleged that Badmus was acting as a “private pimp” in the entertainment industry. The post claimed she used her access to top directors, movie executives, and politicians to arrange exploitative encounters for young women, and suggested her appointment as Special Assistant on Social Events and Public Hearings to the Speaker of the House of Representatives was a reward for such activities.

Badmus, a prominent Yoruba actress with a large following, swiftly rejected the claims on her verified X account, describing them as baseless and defamatory. She warned that the matter would not be treated lightly and signalled her intention to involve law enforcement and pursue redress through the courts.

Addressing the accuser directly, she wrote that the allegation was a falsehood that would attract the attention of the authorities, adding that she would not overlook what she views as a serious attack on her reputation and career.

The incident has revived memories of an earlier defamation case involving Badmus. In that case, TikTok user Nwakaego Okoye published a viral video branding the actress a “professional pimp” who allegedly linked surgically enhanced young women to powerful politicians. Okoye was arrested and arraigned before Justice Nicholas Oweibo of the Federal High Court in Lagos, where she was convicted and sentenced to three years in prison, with an option of a fine.

Against that backdrop, Badmus’s latest response underscores her determination to confront what she considers a pattern of malicious online attacks. Legal practitioners note that Nigerian defamation laws increasingly are being tested in the digital space, as celebrities and public officials turn to the courts to challenge viral allegations.

Following Badmus’s reaction, @Femzydr1 issued a public apology, retracting the claims and admitting that the accusations were made without evidence. The user expressed regret to Badmus, her family, friends, and fans for spreading what he now describes as damaging and false information.

Badmus has yet to confirm whether she will proceed with a lawsuit despite the apology, but her stance suggests she intends to use legal channels to deter future defamatory posts targeting her name.
