A prominent Southern Nigerian oil and gas billionaire is at the centre of a disturbing scandal after he was allegedly caught with his lover’s used sanitary pad hidden in his pocket at her Lagos apartment.
The businessman, who reportedly resides in the upscale Banana Island area, had been in a relationship with the woman for more than seven years. During that period, he is said to have funded her lavish lifestyle, sponsored foreign trips and purchased a luxury home for her in Ikoyi, Lagos.
Trouble allegedly began after a recent visit to the woman’s Ikoyi residence. According to accounts attributed to the woman and cited in local reports, she had discarded a soiled sanitary pad in the bathroom waste bin before going to bed. After the businessman left the following morning, she reportedly noticed the pad was missing.
Alarmed, she is said to have called the billionaire and insisted he return immediately. When he did, she confronted him over the missing pad. He allegedly denied any knowledge of it, but the woman claimed she proceeded to search him and was shocked to find the used sanitary pad folded and tucked inside one of his pockets.
The woman reportedly told associates she believed the act was linked to possible ritual purposes, a fear rooted in widespread suspicions in parts of Nigeria about the use of intimate items for spiritual manipulation. She allegedly demanded an explanation, but found his response evasive and unsatisfactory.
Following the confrontation, the relationship collapsed. The businessman allegedly moved to reclaim the Ikoyi property he had earlier gifted her. The woman later claimed she discovered that documents for the house, initially prepared in her name, had been fraudulently altered and reissued in his name through a housing agent, with the new deeds allegedly registered at the Federal Land Registry.
Matters escalated further when she reportedly reviewed footage from her home’s CCTV system via a mobile app. She alleged that an associate of the billionaire, accompanied by others, unlawfully entered her apartment and removed valuables, including a Range Rover, a 2024 Lexus RX350, 50,000 dollars, 10 million naira in cash and jewellery said to be worth over 20,000 pounds.
The woman also alleged that her mother and siblings have faced threats and harassment, leaving her in fear for her life. She has since fled abroad and engaged lawyers to petition the Nigeria Police Force’s Special Fraud Unit in Ikoyi, Lagos, urging a thorough investigation and protection.
Sources familiar with the case say the Special Fraud Unit is probing the allegations, while the billionaire businessman has reportedly gone into hiding as the scandal continues to unfold.
