Prominent lawyer Foundational Nupe Lawyer criticized the payment as inadequate for a song written over 41 years ago, suggesting Ejeagha deserves more and hoping he has good legal representation. He remarked, “You can’t use someone’s song for content raking millions and offer just ‘2 million’ as if you’re helping the man.”

Ejeagha’s song, released in 1983, has gained renewed attention due to the controversy.
