Nigerian comedian Chukwuebuka Emmanuel Amuzie, aka Brain Jotter, is under scrutiny after his viral dancing video using Gentleman Mike Ejeagha’s classic highlife song “Gwo Gwo Gwo Ngwo” drew mixed reactions. Brain Jotter shared on social media that he paid N2 million to Ejeagha for the song's use, sparking debate.

Prominent lawyer Foundational Nupe Lawyer criticized the payment as inadequate for a song written over 41 years ago, suggesting Ejeagha deserves more and hoping he has good legal representation. He remarked, “You can’t use someone’s song for content raking millions and offer just ‘2 million’ as if you’re helping the man.”

Ejeagha’s song, released in 1983, has gained renewed attention due to the controversy. Reactions on social media are mixed: some question the fairness of the payment, while others debate if similar situations with current artists like Wizkid and Davido should also warrant royalty payments. Users have highlighted inconsistencies in how royalty issues are handled across different cases.
