‘Debt Dilemma: Portable's Release From Detention Despite N14m Debt’ - 4 months ago

Musician Portable, also known as Habeeb Okikiola, has been released on bail after meeting the conditions set for his release. He was arrested by the Nigeria Police for allegedly refusing to pay a N14 million debt incurred from purchasing a G-Wagon from a car dealer in Lagos State. Portable attempted to evade arrest, leading to a viral video showing him resisting arrest by four policemen who eventually apprehended him.

This isn't Portable's first brush with the law. In March 2023, He was previously arrested for cursing and rough handling police officers in viral videos and was also arrested on charges of assault and stealing, for which he was later released on bail.

Regarding the recent incident, Portable allegedly bought the G-Wagon for N27 million, paid N13 million, and agreed to pay the remaining N14 million later. However, he was arrested when he failed to fulfill this agreement. A copy of the agreement between Portable and the car dealer was shared on social media, detailing the payment schedule.

After spending a night in custody, Portable was released upon meeting his bail conditions.
