So the AFCON 2025 final can just be overturned like that? Just like that?

One minute there’s a champion decided on the pitch, the next minute the result is changed to a 3–0 forfeit and another team is crowned. Honestly, as a Nigerian football fan, this doesn’t sit right.

Football is supposed to be decided by what happens during the match  the sweat, the tactics, the goals, the mistakes. Not by decisions that come afterward which rewrite the story of the game.

If Senegal forfeited for a legitimate reason, then fine, rules are rules. But changing the outcome of a continental final after the fact feels unfair to the players, the fans, and to African football itself.

AFCON is supposed to represent the pride of our continent. Moments like this just make supporters question the integrity of the competition.

African football deserves better. The fans deserve clarity. And the game should always be settled on the pitch, not in boardrooms.
