Just What You Have. - 2 years ago

People ask a lot of times, how do you do it? What's the secret? And say,  Show me the  road, cut soap for me, and many among others. Like any other person in Nigeria, several individuals have asked me these same questions, and complimented me on different occasions, believe me, I know you are familiar with that too. Sometimes you just look good, and people admire you, to the extent they think you have one magical secret you are not telling them, but what they don't know is that the secret is as simple as ABC, and the secret is “Contentment".

A content person is a happy person, we all have heard that once or twice, and that's true. It is okay to want good things, a beautiful house, a fine car, a gorgeous dress, etc, but it is not advisable, when you go the extra mile, desperately seeking those things especially when you can't afford them. Contentment kills greed, covetousness, and bitterness, and prevents you from getting into trouble, bankruptcy, misery, hardship, etc.

There's this short tale we read in class "The Necklace" by Guy De Maupassant, about a woman whose discontentment led her and  husband into a tough time after she lost a borrowed necklace she got from a friend. The story highlighted the great consequences of lack of contentment, and in our world today people are suffering because they don't want to be contented. People want what they don't have and don't want what they have, while there's great joy in being contented and using just what you have.

It is okay to want good things, to look good, to smell good, to have good things, but always work with what you can afford now, with time, when you can eventually afford those things, nobody will stand in your way. Had it been the woman from the story agreed to use flowers as suggested by her husband, she wouldn't have gone all the way to borrow an expensive necklace she ended up losing, things could have been different and better for her.

I admire the popular Marsai Martin a lot, I mean she's young and rich, her dresses, her hairstyles and the likes. I can't afford most of what she has,  she's rich( a whole entrepreneur and film producer) but that does not mean that I can't afford something like that someday, I believe God will give me what I can handle, but first I have to be content with what I have, and so should you. There's something called "class" and “time", don't look at it the way people always see and say it, honestly it's part of human existence, we all cannot be in the same class, imagine if everybody is Elon Musk or Mark Zuckerberg. Trust God's timing for your life, and believe in a better tomorrow while you enjoy what you have today.
