The truth is at first to me it was all about just getting the grades ,but as the training sessions began I realized this was going to be a wonderful opportunity for me to learn more. So when we were asked to portray the Gbayi people's rich cultural heritage as part of our presentation as film and multi media students ,first of all we started with selecting the dancers and then worked on it together as a team.
After much effort the day of presentation finally arrived on the 16th of July at the University curve ground, and we the 100 level showcased different cultures and their attires. Different cultures like Yoruba, Igbo, Edo and so much more was presented in different traditional attires showcasing the beauty in our diversity.
Different traditional recipes were prepared and presented before the judges and then entire to see alongside some pictures of history cal cultural artifacts. I was also made to understand how family disputes are settled among different cultures particularly in the case of the Idoma people's culture where the parents settled the issue between two couples.
I learnt about different cultural beliefs and their way of dancing ,dressing, singing and so much more. Although didn't perform as a dancer but I had the privilege to work as part of the team and together we portrayed the Gbayi people's rich cultural heritage with pride and hunor. The entire presentation was superp and very much impactful and fun.
