Kogi Varsity Expels Four Students Over Alleged Lesbianism, Cyber Offences - 2 hours ago

The Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara, Kogi State, has expelled four undergraduates and rusticated another over allegations ranging from same-sex conduct and physical assault to cyber-related misconduct.

The disciplinary measures followed investigations by the institution’s Students’ Disciplinary Committee, whose recommendations were ratified by the university Senate. The management said the decisions were taken to safeguard the institution’s moral code and protect the campus community.

According to letters issued by the office of the Deputy Registrar, Academic Affairs, two female students, Ezekiel Precious Omeneke, a 200-level Economics student, and Aku Joy Chinyere, a 200-level Accounting student, were expelled over alleged involvement in lesbianism, said to be in violation of the university’s regulations on student conduct.

Also expelled was Musa Abdulhakeem Onimisi, a 200-level Petroleum and Gas Engineering student, accused of physically assaulting and stabbing another student during a reported altercation on campus. The university described the incident as a grave breach of its rules on violence and safety.

In a separate case, Dominion Kolade, a 200-level Physiotherapy student, was expelled for allegedly cloning and circulating photographs of two female students without their consent. The management classified the act as a cyber-related offence and an invasion of privacy, warning that digital misconduct would attract severe sanctions.

In addition, a 200-level Radiography student, Agbakaru Kosikochukwu, was rusticated for one academic session over fighting and physical assault. He is expected to stay away from academic activities for the duration of the suspension before being considered for reinstatement under strict conditions.

Vice-Chancellor, Prof Abdulrahman Salawu, commended the Students’ Disciplinary Committee for what he described as a thorough and impartial process. He said the university would not hesitate to apply its regulations fully whenever students’ actions threaten the safety, reputation, or core values of the institution.

Salawu reiterated that CUSTECH aims to produce graduates known for both academic excellence and upright character. He urged students to familiarise themselves with the university’s code of conduct and avoid behaviour that could jeopardise their academic careers.

The management warned that further violations of its rules, whether physical or online, would be met with decisive disciplinary action, stressing that maintaining order and a safe learning environment remains a top priority.
