Chapter 4: The Traitor's Help

In the dungeons, Kael struggled to come to terms with his capture and the looming threat of execution. Arin, the mysterious prisoner, approached him, whispering words of encouragement. "Hold on, Kael. Hope is not lost yet."

Arin revealed himself as a former member of Xarath's inner circle, disillusioned with the sorcerer-king's brutal methods. He had been secretly feeding information to the rebels, aiding their cause. Arin offered to help Kael escape, but at a great risk: if caught, they would both face Xarath's wrath.

Kael hesitated, unsure if he could trust this former enemy. But Arin's words resonated deep within him: "The true enemy is Xarath, not each other." With a nod, Kael accepted Arin's offer, and together they hatched a plan.

Under the cover of night, Arin led Kael through hidden passages and secret doors, avoiding guards and traps. They reached the stronghold's outer walls, where a rebellion contact awaited with horses and supplies. As they rode away from the stronghold, Kael felt a sense of freedom he had not known in weeks. Arin's betrayal of Xarath had given him a second chance.

The unlikely duo rode toward the rebellion's hideout, their bond forged in the darkness of the dungeons. Kael realized that even in the darkest of places, hope and allies could be found. The question now was: what lay ahead for him and the rebellion?
