The Email That Nearly Destroyed Mr AZ’s Future
When Mr AZ received an unexpected email offering him a large sum of money in exchange for “just a few files” from his workplace, he hesitated. The documents looked harmless to him—just routine reports—but they contained sensitive data about national infrastructure. What Mr AZ didn’t realise was that under the newly passed Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act 2025, this fell under Disclosure of Critical Information (Section 5).

The law is clear: sharing classified or sensitive information without proper authority is no small mistake—it is a grave offence. Such actions threaten national security and public safety, and are now punishable by up to 15 years in prison.
One careless email, one deliberate leak, or one “innocent favour” can destroy lives and land offenders behind bars.
