Artist and content creator Dior Adiele has publicly declared that she wants her mother out of her home, opening a raw conversation about parental abuse, emotional trauma, and the burden of being the family’s default provider.

In a series of posts, Dior alleged that her mother forced her into adulthood long before she was ready. She said she began paying rent at 16 while still living under her mother’s roof with her siblings, even though, according to her, their father was sending money. Dior claimed her mother made the children believe he was not supporting them financially.

She described a chaotic upbringing marked by instability and religious extremism. Dior said her mother pulled the family out of the Catholic Church and took them to what she called a “demonic church,” a move she links to a period in which they were allegedly made homeless three times. Despite working hard for years and earning what she described as “crazy money,” Dior said she has no tangible assets because her mother “drained” her finances while presenting herself as a “prayer warrior.”

Now in her early thirties and a mother herself, Dior said she has reached breaking point. Her mother currently lives with her, but Dior insists that arrangement must end. She said her mother is refusing to leave, claiming she has nowhere else to go, while extended family members are pressuring Dior to keep accommodating her “because she is your mother.”

Dior argued that this emotional blackmail ignores the toll on her mental health and on her young daughter. She described her mother’s presence as “triggering” and said she hates the person she is becoming under the strain. She stressed that she wants to be mentally stable for her child and believes continuing to house her mother is pushing her toward a breakdown.

The public outburst comes just weeks after Dior revealed that she has also been solely responsible for caring for her brother, who is battling drug addiction. She said his behavior has become violent and that she fears for her daughter’s safety in a home where tension, dependency, and unresolved trauma collide.

Dior’s story has resonated widely online, tapping into a growing discourse about adult children setting boundaries with parents, especially in cultures where filial duty is often used to silence those who speak about abuse and exploitation within the family.
