You spend weeks imagining where NYSC will post you. Maybe you are hoping for a big city, a good organisation, a comfortable PPA, or somewhere close to people you know.

Then your posting comes out… and you just stare at your phone.

“Wait. This is where I was posted?” 😂

Sometimes, NYSC posting doesn't look anything like the plan you had in your head. You may have studied Mass Communication but find yourself teaching in a school. You may have imagined working in a media organisation but end up somewhere completely different. Or you may simply be posted to a place you have never heard of before.

At first, disappointment is normal. You start wondering whether the experience will be worth it.

But sometimes, the posting you didn't choose ends up teaching you the most.

You meet people you would never have met, discover abilities you didn't know you had, and learn how to adapt when life refuses to follow your plans.

NYSC can remind you of something important: not every unexpected destination is a wrong destination.

Sometimes, you don't get the experience you imagined. You get the experience you needed.
