Doctor Remanded Over Fake Medical Report In Adetoun Onajobi Case - 2wks ago

A medical doctor has been remanded by a magistrates’ court in Ogun State for allegedly issuing a fabricated medical report to aid activist and social media personality Adetoun Onajobi in avoiding a police invitation. The arrest follows police investigations that uncovered the document submitted by Onajobi’s legal team was not genuine, prompting authorities to detain the doctor on charges that include conspiracy, uttering a false document and obstruction of justice.

The incident stems from a complaint against Onajobi, widely known as @justadetoun, who has been charged with cyberbullying and spreading false information against the Ogun State Government and Governor Dapo Abiodun. According to the Ogun State Police Command, she failed to appear for questioning in early January, and her lawyer’s submission of the dubious medical report triggered deeper scrutiny. Police say the doctor admitted fabricating the document at Onajobi’s instruction during a phone exchange with her lawyer.

Authorities have since filed a six-count charge against Onajobi at the Federal High Court, Abeokuta Division, but she has repeatedly evaded subsequent invitations and her location remains unknown. The case has highlighted broader concerns about misuse of official documents and the limits of free speech online, with the police emphasising that constitutional rights do not protect criminal conduct. Efforts to trace Onajobi and other suspects linked to the incident are ongoing.
