Now this was a man who understood impact. He didn’t just coach athletes or teach boys. He raised men, taught them respect, responsibility and accountability. He was so good at his job; the team went undefeated for 25 years. Unbeatable for 151 games straight.
He instilled values in these boys and made them understand it’s not about the record, it’s the team. Team work makes the dream work. The team became a brotherhood.
He had a chance to go coach big university teams with big paychecks and benefits but he stuck with these boys in High School. At their last match, the team raised their helmets in tribute to great mentor and coach. They wouldn’t have gotten this far without him. He taught them honour.
When I say I love plot, this is it. It is stories like these that tell of the best of humanity I seek.
One man can make a difference.
Impact first before selfish gain….always!
For him, it was never about winning but about molding character. Teach a child in the way he should grow and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
