NFF President Visits Injured Ola Aina In London - 2wks ago

In an act of solidarity, Ibrahim Musa Gusau, the president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), made a highly publicized visit to the injured Super Eagles defender Ola Aina in London. With the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) looming, this gesture is being touted as a much-needed morale booster for the national team, which is struggling with player injuries.

The NFF wasted no time in broadcasting the visit on social media platform X, where they cheerfully announced Gusau's well-wishes for Aina’s speedy recovery. The post proclaimed, “NFF President Ibrahim Musa Gusau paid a visit to Super Eagles defender Ola Aina in London, wishing him a speedy recovery as he continues his rehabilitation.”

Aina is currently fighting back from a hamstring injury sustained in a World Cup qualifier against South Africa, which was serious enough to require surgery and has sidelined him for what feels like an eternity. This unfortunate setback has disrupted what many were calling an impressive season for him at Nottingham Forest, a narrative that the NFF seems keen to counteract with this visit.

On a more positive note, Aina has made some progress in his recovery, recently returning to light training on grass, definitely a photo op moment shared widely on social media. These images show Aina engaging in basic pitch activities, a clear attempt to demonstrate that he is on track, despite the seriousness of his injury.

Nottingham Forest is feeling the pinch without Aina’s contributions, and there’s a palpable pressure on the club as they monitor his rehabilitation closely. While they optimistically speculate that he could be back in action by December or early 2026, his return for Nigeria's national team remains uncertain, hinging on the ever-elusive medical clearance.

The absence of Aina has visibly shaken up the Forest squad, forcing coaches like Ange Postecoglou and Sean Dyche to scramble and make adjustments. As Aina inches closer to full fitness, his return is being heralded as a vital component for Nigeria, who desperately need defensive depth and stability as they prepare for AFCON 2025.

As the Super Eagles gear up for the daunting challenges of AFCON 2025, the spotlight is firmly on the NFF's support and the recovery of players like Aina, which are being framed as pivotal in their pursuit of continental glory.
