After the service, he approached her.
"That was a powerful message," Chidi said, his voice smooth and warm.
"Yes, it really was," Ladi responded, trying to steady her heartbeat.
They spoke for a while, discussing the program, their favorite preachers, and their personal faith journeys. Everything about him seemed perfect. He talked about God, attended church regularly, and appeared to share her values. She felt safe. When he asked for her number, she hesitated briefly, then gave it to him.
That was the beginning.
Their conversations grew longer, their meetings more frequent. What started as casual discussions about faith and life turned into personal confessions, shared dreams, and inside jokes. With every message, every call, Ladi found herself sinking deeper into the warmth of Chidi’s presence.
Then came the first visit.
Chidi had stopped by her house on a quiet afternoon. They talked, laughed, and for a moment, everything felt perfect. But as the day went on, something changed. His hand brushed against hers and lingered. When he leaned in and kissed her, a spark shot through her body. It was as though every part of her had come alive. She had never felt anything like it before—intense, electrifying, consuming.
But the kiss was only the beginning.
With each visit, the touches became more frequent. Innocent caresses turned into lingering embraces. Slowly, boundaries blurred, and Ladi found herself caught in a web of emotions she had never navigated before.
Yet, in the quiet moments of the night, when she was alone with her thoughts, something in her heart whispered a warning. At first, she ignored it. After all, Chidi loved her, didn’t he? He was a good guy—or so she thought. But as time passed, the whisper grew louder.
One night, after another visit filled with emotions she couldn’t control, she fell to her knees in tears.
“God, what am I doing?” she sobbed. “I wanted a love that honors You, but I feel like I’m losing myself.”
The weight in her heart became unbearable. She knew she had to make a choice—continue in a relationship that was pulling her away from God or surrender her heart fully to Him.
The decision wasn’t easy. Chidi didn’t understand why she was pulling away. He tried to convince her that they could still be together, that what they had was special. But deep down, Ladi knew the truth. She had prayed for a godly relationship, but she had allowed her emotions to lead her into compromise.
So, she walked away.
It was painful. It felt like a part of her was breaking. But as she let go, peace filled her heart.
In the months that followed, Ladi devoted herself to healing. She spent time in prayer, seeking God’s wisdom. She listened to sermons on godly relationships, read books on love and purity, and allowed God to rebuild her heart. Slowly, she found herself again—not as the girl who had fallen in love with the wrong person, but as the woman who had chosen God above all else.
