Anthony Joshua Speaks Out After Tragic Lagos Crash: “I Lost My Left And My Right” - 2 months ago

Former two-time heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua has broken his silence following the tragic road accident in Lagos that claimed the lives of two of his closest friends and team members, Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami. The boxer, who survived the crash, described the loss as one of the most painful moments of his life, saying he had never experienced grief of such depth before.

In an emotional YouTube video released on Thursday, the 36-year-old fighter revealed that the accident occurred when an SUV conveying him and his team collided with a stationary truck. While Joshua escaped with his life, the two men he called brothers did not. He explained that recording the video was extremely difficult, as he had to stop several times due to the weight of his emotions.

Joshua said Ayodele and Ghami were more than colleagues, noting that they were central figures in both his boxing career and personal journey. Reflecting on their final moments together in Miami, he recalled the plans they had for the rest of 2025 before everything suddenly changed. He acknowledged that the tragedy was beyond human control, adding that his faith has become his anchor during the grieving process.

The boxer expressed deep appreciation for the global support shown by fans and well-wishers, saying the love has not gone unnoticed by him or the families of the deceased. He pledged to continue supporting their loved ones and committed himself to helping fulfil the dreams and legacy his late friends left behind, describing their bond as a lifelong brotherhood that even death cannot break.
