Bauchi State Shuts Down All Schools Amid Rising Security Fears - 2wks ago

The Bauchi State government has ordered an immediate closure of ALL schools in the state, leaving parents and students in a state of panic. This sweeping directive covers every primary, secondary, and tertiary institution, regardless of ownership, amidst alarming security issues that have sent shockwaves through the community.

The announcement, made by Jalaludeen Usman, the Information and Public Relations Officer of the state Ministry of Education, indicates a decision borne out of “overwhelming security concerns.”

Usman stated, “This decision, though difficult, was taken by the government of Bauchi State after extensive consultations and in response to overwhelming security concerns.” But what about the millions of students who will now miss out on their education? The government claims to prioritize student safety, saying, “Every student in Bauchi State deserves to learn in an environment that is safe, stable, and free of fear.”

In his appeal to the public, Usman urged parents and guardians to “remain calm,” despite the chaos that this closure will inevitably cause. “We call on parents, guardians, school proprietors, and all concerned stakeholders not to panic.” he asserted, disregarding the genuine concerns and fears of families across the state.

The ministry is now calling on residents to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities. “If you see something, say something!” Usman exclaimed.

The urgency of this decision has roots in the recent abductions of secondary school students in Kebbi and Niger states, sparking fears that have swept across northern Nigeria.
