Former Kaduna Central Senator Shehu Sani has rejected reports of a political pact allegedly involving ex-Governor Nasir El-Rufai, Senator Suleiman Abdu Kwari Ashiru and opposition parties including the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aimed at defeating Governor Uba Sani in the 2027 general elections. Speaking at a press briefing in Kaduna, Sani described the purported alliance as “dead on arrival,” arguing that opposition parties in the state lack the necessary grassroots structures and popular support to mount a credible challenge to the ruling administration.
Sani expressed confidence that Governor Uba Sani’s record in office would secure him a second term and dismissed any notion that a coalition involving El-Rufai and Ashiru could sway voters. According to the former senator, the opposition’s organisational weaknesses at the ward and community levels render such political manoeuvres ineffective. “There is no political plot, whether by individuals or parties, that can override the will of the people of Kaduna State,” Sani said, underscoring his belief that the so-called plot will “fail woefully.”
