Love and Peace.
Two words that do not necessarily go well together in our world today.
Love is a feeling that doesn’t always bring peace.
Sometimes, you love at the expense of your peace — or so we were made to believe.
But are these statements true?
Let’s dive into our subconscious...
As a teenage girl,
My greatest desire was to be loved and cared for.
I built up this fallacy — a dream of perfect love:
Enduring, forgiving, kind, gentle,
Understanding, patient, honest, loyal, enviable — peaceful.
A love that wouldn’t bend or break.
A love worth dying for.
A love that is pure and true.
But truly, it was a fallacy.
Every single love I received
Was battered by betrayal,
Shattered by destroyed trust —
A complete opposite of what I thought love should be.
Is this what love really is?
Or is it that we, as humans, can’t fully grasp the concept of love?
Is love truly a tool for destruction?
Is love just pain in disguise?
Must love be coated in pretense and hidden agendas?
As a young youth,
I began to believe love is a mirage.
A love that destroys isn’t worth holding onto.
They called it “blind,” but love sees.
It sees enough to wound.
Love and pain, two inseparable brothers
NB:
If we must truly understand what love is,
Then we must look to how God loves us.
Perhaps it’s His unconditional love that brings true peace.
