PSG forward, Ousmane Dembele and Barcelona midfielder  Aitana Bonmati were crowned winners of the 2025 Ballon d’Or at a glittering ceremony in Paris, each writing a fresh chapter in football history.

Dembele’s victory capped a defining season in which he helped PSG secure their first ever Champions League title and a domestic treble. His ability to deliver in decisive matches and contribute both goals and assists made him the standout candidate. 

On the women’s side, Aitana Bonmatí cemented her legacy by winning the Ballon d’Or Féminin for the third consecutive year — a feat never before achieved. Her consistent brilliance and leadership at Barcelona and with Spain kept her ahead of rivals, even in a season where her club fell short in some finals. Bonmatí used her acceptance speech to credit her teammates and supporters, underscoring that such success is always a collective effort.

The results also signaled the rise of a new generation, with Barcelona teenager Lamine Yamal finishing just behind Dembélé in the men’s voting. His breakthrough year ensured that the spotlight was not only on established stars but also on the game’s emerging talents.
