She Forgot How Loud She Was - Yesterday

When her father raised his hand to punish her for speaking at the wedding ceremony,

a voice cut through the room.

The Mafia Boss stepped forward.

“If that belt comes anywhere near her skin,” he said, calm but deadly,

“I’ll make sure you get in contact with your creator.”

Audacity laced in every word.

He took her home.

But somewhere between the silence and the walls of his house, he noticed something wrong.

She hadn’t spoken a single word since.

Except

“Thank you.”

He stopped in the hallway.

Looking down at the 5'2 woman standing in front of him like she had already learned how to disappear.

Then he spoke, slower this time. Different.

“They took your voice and taught you silence like it was your language.

But I swear… when I’m done with the world that did this to you,

you’ll remember how loud you were meant to be."

The problem wasn’t that he was dangerous.

The problem was that she looked at danger and still whispered, “thank you.”

And somewhere between protecting her and teaching her how to speak again…

the Mafia Boss forgot he was capable of becoming soft.

She still flinches when people raise their voices.

Still apologizes before speaking.

Still says “thank you” like she’s afraid kindness expires.

And him?

He starts realizing the most terrifying thing he’s ever touched…

wasn’t blood.

wasn’t power.

wasn’t violence.

It was a girl who genuinely believed she deserved none of them.
