🎯 THE LORD IS COMING
📖BIBLE TEXT: ISAIAH 40:1-11
🔎📖 Isaiah 40:9 See, the Sovereign Lord comes with power, and He rules with a mighty arm. See, His reward is with Him, and His recompense accompanies Him.”
Twice, God charged the returnees from exile to see the Lord is coming. As though He wanted them to take their eyes away from the sights of the hopelessness and helplessness that surrounded them, and to see His coming as their intervention and consolation. We live in very peculiar times. With the increasing reports of natural disasters, the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the escalation of tension in the Middle East, we can agree with Larry Spargimino that “Factors are coming together, signs are being fulfilled in concert, in ways that have never happened before.” However, it is not just that all eyes see Him, some will see his pleasure and other His displeasure. Which one will you see?
👉🏽 HIS PLEASURE
Matthew 25:23 “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! Come and share your master’s pleasure!’
When the Lord returns, the saints shall be consoled by the warm welcome into the bounties of His pleasure. Nothing on earth can capture the joy we are about to experience. We just know it will be unspeakable bliss. George Whitefield says “How sweet is rest after fatigue! How sweet will heaven be when our journey is ended.” When we gain His rest, all the toils and troubles we experienced on earth shall be worth it. See, the Lord is coming! Let us live as those seeking His pleasure.
👉🏽 HIS DISPLEASURE
Matthew 25:30 “And throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’
Though we joyfully sing in expectation of His coming, it shall be a day of terror for those who have not lived for His pleasure. A. W. Pink warns that “The first time [Christ] came to slay sin in men. The second time He will come to slay men in sin.” It will not be a pleasant for anyone who has not lived to serve the King in this life. Let us be strong and assured that soon we shall see the Sovereign Lord. Let us abide in His will so that we shall see His pleasure and not His displeasure.
Please let us meditate and pray with the hymn of Elisha Hoffman, The Lord Is Coming By and By.
1. The Lord is coming by and by,
Be ready when He comes;
He comes from His fair home on high,
Be ready when He comes;
He is the Lord our Righteousness,
And comes His chosen ones to bless,
And at His Father’s throne confess;
Be ready when He comes.
Refrain
(Will you be ready when the Bridegroom comes?)2x
Will your lamps be trimmed and bright,
Be it morning, noon or night?
Will you be ready when the Bridegroom comes?
2. He soon will come to earth again,
Be ready when He comes;
Begin His universal reign,
Be ready when He comes;
With hallelujahs Heav’n will ring,
When Jesus does redemption bring;
O trim your lamps to meet your King!
Be ready when He comes.
3. Behold! He comes to one and all,
Be ready when He comes;
He quickly comes with trumpet call,
Be ready when He comes;
To judgment called at His command,
Drawn thither by His mighty hand,
Before His throne we all must stand;
Be ready when He comes.
PRAYER 🙏🏾
O Sovereign Lord! As the signs of Your return abound, I surrender to You and Your mercies. May my heart be prepared to know and serve You now, and to see Your pleasure, when You return, O Christ. Amen
Have a nice day and remain blessed 🙏
