“We could have lost our lives, doesn’t it matter to you?” she asked him.
“The attack was an attempt to kill Theodore, not you or the others?” Conner answered her.
“And how do you know that?” she inquired.
“The attackers were aiming at him all through the shooting,” he replied to her.
“But you weren’t there, how come you know that,”
“Margaret.” Miller called her, she turned to him with eyes red, “Stay away from this,” she warned him, before turning to Conner again.
“Is he the heir?” she asked, “You don’t have to hide it anymore.”
“The will… it will be read next week, then you will know who the heir is… if at all there is one.” Conner concluded firmly.
He scanned the living room again, holding the gaze of each person in the room for a second, each.
“Thank you and do stay safe,” he wished, walking away.
Silence fell upon the living room as the family members exchanged glances, each wondering what Conner meant when he said, there might be no heir.
