Maybe our faith wasn’t strong enough
Maybe we didn’t pray enough
Maybe we should have persisted more
Maybe You got tired of hearing us bring up the same request over and over again
Heal him, restore him, heal him.
Maybe it was his time
Maybe You decided the pain was enough, let my son rest with me
So many maybes
But I Judge You faithful and I give thanks. 
Whatever  Your  reason was, You know best.
His wings were ready but our hearts weren’t
Even if You added more years to him, when the time came, it still wouldn’t hurt less
I guess it had to be now.
Deep down I knew
But I hoped and I cursed my unbelief.
I’m grateful.
He gave me a gift though
His best smile when I said goodbye the evening before
And I’ll hold that memory till I meet him again.
