BE COMFORTED!📖BIBLE TEXT: ISAIAH 40:1-2🔎📖 Isaiah 40:1 “Comfort, comfort my people, says your God.”The introduction to this chapter is blunt. Comfort my people says your God! When commands are repeated by God, He wants us to note the emphasis and the urgency so that we may make the imperative a priority. The passage also paints the ironic truth that God’s people also need to be comforted. This suggests that God’s people are besieged by troubles too! As Psalm 23:4 says “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.” We live in very troubling times, especially for believers. Here, God wants us to move beyond waiting for people’s comfort, to become His agents to comfort His people. For this to happen, we must breathe in and breathe out comfort!👉🏽 BREATHE IN COMFORTPsalm 94:19 “In the multitude of my anxieties within me, Your comforts delight my soul.”We are called to comfort God’s people, but we cannot give what we don’t have. David, the man after God’s heart, just like any believer today, was also besieged by multitude of anxieties. But his coping strategy was to allow God’s comforts to delight his soul. How do you plan to handle your anxieties? When we absorb the Word of God through all its agencies of dissemination, the Holy Spirit ignites it to be a comforting fire that keeps our souls from becoming lukewarm or dead cold in these perilous times. Open the channels of your spirit and breathe in the Word of life. Draw strength and succor that nothing in this world can offer. It is the only valid and guaranteed lifeline for any anxious Christian today. Be comforted!👉🏽 BREATHE OUT COMFORTIsaiah 40:1 “Comfort, comfort my people, says your God.”Let us outgrow the childish spiritual tendency of always seeking to be comforted and even getting offended when people don’t comfort us. The only sea that receives, without giving out, is the Dead Sea! The living must give out! You don’t need to go far to find someone in need of comfort today. Go and comfort God’s people! Someone needs a cheerful word, a prayer, an affirmation, a touch, a hug, a shoulder to cry, a listening ear, a nod of understanding, a gift of cash or provision, an assurance and even a prophetic utterance, to be comforted. As you step out today, be filled with the longing to bless someone with God’s comfort. And as you do, remember that they who water others shall be watered too! Be a comforter today! Please meditate and pray with the hymn of Francis Bottome, The Comforter Has Come.1 OH, spread the tidings round, wherever man is found,Wherever human hearts and human woes abound;Let every Christian tongue proclaim the joyful sound:The Comforter has come!Refrain:(The Comforter has come!)2xThe Holy Ghost from heaven, the Father’s promise given;Oh, spread the tidings round, wherever man is found—The Comforter has come!2 Lo, the great King of kings, with healing in His wings,To every captive soul a full deliv’rance brings; And through the vacant cells the song of triumph rings; The Comforter has come!3 O boundless Love divine! how shall this tongue of mineTo wond’ring mortals tell the matchless grace divine—That I a child of hell, should in His image shine! The Comforter has come!4 Sing, till the echoes fly above the vaulted sky,And all the saints above to all below reply,In strains of endless love, the song that ne’er will die:The Comforter has come!PRAYER 🙏🏾Almighty and Faithful Father, I am grateful that You sent Your Holy Spirit to be my Comforter! I open up my spirit to breathe in Your words of comfort. And I ask for the grace to be Your channel to breathe Your comfort upon others today and always in Jesus name. Amen!Have a blessed day & stay safe! 😷🙏🏽
