A lively classroom. Students chat in clusters.
JUWON sits alone, revising a textbook intensely.
CHARLES walks in confidently, flashing an expensive wristwatch.
JUWON’s eyes widen.
JUWON
(astonished, in pidgin)
Guy, where you see this watch? This thing cost well-well! Show me the way now. Help your brother.
(CHARLES laughs).
CHARLE
I don tell you say na my group dey sponsor my lifestyle. Bros, no dull yourself. Dey there dey do Holy Mary.
(JUWON’s face hardens).
JUWON
I can’t. It’s against my principles. And if my mum finds out? This thing risky. I no fit.
(CHARLES sighs dramatically).
CHARLES
Okay. But when you’re ready, call me.
(pauses, teasing)
Hope you don buy ADA that iPhone she’s disturbing you for?
(JUWON says nothing. CHARLES smirks).

SCENE 2
INT. BOYS’ HOSTEL ROOM – NIGHT
JUWON lies on his bed, staring at the ceiling.
JUWON (V.O.)
Everything’s getting harder. ADA wants an iPhone 16… and I’m using Vivo. Maybe I should just join. Just temporarily. Make some money and leave.
He grabs his phone and dials.
(INTERCUT PHONE CALL)
CHARLES
How far? Hope no problem?
JUWON
I’ll join. But temporary. Once I get what I need, I’m out.
CHARLES
(excited)
Guyyyyy! You no go want leave. Trust me!
Fade out.
SCENE 3
EXT. OPEN FIELD – NIGHT
A bonfire burns. Fifteen AYE members dressed in BLUE chant rhythmically.
CHARLES stands beside a nervous JUWON.
YUSUF raises his hand. Silence.
YUSUF
Tonight, we welcome JUWON.
(Ululations).
(JUWON steps forward).
YUSUF
No fear. I go cut your arm. You collect blood from everyone. No shaking.
(The ritual proceeds. JUWON trembles but complies).
YUSUF
Drink.
(JUWON hesitates).
JUWON
What?!
(He drinks).
The group erupts.
ALL
Welcome, comrade!

ACT TWO – CONSEQUENCES
SCENE 1
EXT. CAMPUS – MORNING (SIX MONTHS LATER)
JUWON now looks wealthy — designer clothes, expensive phone.
ADA admires her new iPhone.
CHARLES approaches.
CHARLES
Boss! Levels don change!
(ADA smiles proudly).
ADA
Special thanks to my man.

SCENE 2
EXT. RESTAURANT – EVENING
JUWON and CHARLES exit laughing.
Suddenly—
SHOLA rushes forward and STABS CHARLES.
Chaos.

EXT. CEMETERY – DAY
CHARLES is lowered into the grave.
His mother wails.
JUWON watches, devastated.
Fade out.
SCENE 4
EXT. AYE MEETING GROUND – NIGHT
JUWON rages.
JUWON
I saw RED bandana! Vikings did this! We must avenge him!
(The members agree).
CUT TO:
SCENE 5
INT. UNCOMPLETED BUILDING – NIGHT
VIKINGS meeting.
JIMMY
Shola, why stab him?
SHOLA
He took my woman. I didn’t mean to kill him.
Tension builds.
JIMMY
Then we fight.
(Shouts of agreement). Fade out.
ACT THREE – THE PAYMENT
SCENE 1
INT. MRS. ANIFOWOSE’S ROOM – MORNING
She wakes from a nightmare.
Calls JUWON.
MRS. ANIFOWOSE
I dream say you die. Please, avoid trouble.
JUWON
It’s just a dream, Mummy. I’m fine.
(He hangs up quickly).

SCENE 2
EXT. OPEN FIELD – NIGHT
Both groups face off. BLUE vs RED.
Weapons drawn.
YUSUF
Attack!
Brutal clash. Machetes. Screams.
Bodies fall.
(AYE appears victorious).
(JUWON raises his fist).
JUWON
Charles, this is for you!
A sudden GUNSHOT.
JUWON freezes.
Blood spreads across his chest.
He collapses.
Fade out.
SCENE 3 – THE PRICE
INT. CLASSROOM – DAY
Police enter.
POLICE OFFICER
Yusuf Kolawole, you’re under arrest.
(Handcuffs click).

INT. COURTROOM – DAY
COURT CLERK stands.
COURT CLERK
All rise!
The JUDGE enters.
JUWON’s mother sobs quietly.
JUDGE
Universities are for learning, not violence.
This court sentences you to 21 years imprisonment with hard labor.
Gavel bangs.
