Tinubu, First Lady Hails Pastor Adeboye At 84, Describes Him As ‘One Of Nigeria’s Greatest Gifts’ - 1wk ago

President Bola Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu have paid glowing tribute to the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, as he marked his 84th birthday.

In a message released by the State House, the President described the revered cleric as “one of our nation’s greatest gifts” and a spiritual pillar whose prayers continue to uplift Nigeria. The First Family praised Adeboye, fondly known as Daddy G.O., for his humility, deep wisdom, and unwavering intercession for the country.

According to the tribute, his influence goes far beyond the pulpit. The presidential couple highlighted his contributions to philanthropy, education, healthcare, and economic empowerment, noting that his impact transcends generations and borders.

President Tinubu commended the clergyman’s “unceasing prayers” and acknowledged his commitment to national progress, describing his life as one of purpose and service.

Born on March 2, 1942, in Ifewara, Osun State, Pastor Adeboye holds a doctorate in Applied Mathematics from the University of Lagos. He joined RCCG in 1973 and became General Overseer in 1981, succeeding the church’s founder, Pastor Josiah Akindayomi.

Under his leadership, RCCG has grown from a small Lagos congregation into a global Pentecostal movement with parishes in over 190 countries. Its monthly Holy Ghost Service at the Redemption Camp along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway attracts millions and ranks among the world’s largest Christian gatherings.

Beyond ministry, Adeboye founded Redeemer’s University and oversees numerous social impact initiatives through church foundations.

As tributes continue to pour in, many Nigerians are reflecting on the legacy of a man whose spiritual leadership has shaped millions of lives over four decades.
