Actress Georgina Onuoha has stirred conversations online after raising concerns about what she believes is an increasing rate of domestic violence, child abuse, and toxic masculinity within some Igbo communities.
In a series of videos shared on social media, the actress revealed that disturbing videos and photographs she recently received compelled her to speak out on the issue.
Onuoha emphasized that a man's financial contributions to his family should never be used as a justification for abusing women. She maintained that true manhood is defined by good character, respect, and integrity rather than wealth or status.
The actress also criticized women who mistreat children under their care, describing such behavior as abuse that should never be tolerated or defended in the name of culture, tradition, or family arrangements.
She called on traditional rulers, religious leaders, and community stakeholders to address these issues openly and take proactive steps to prevent them from escalating further.
Additionally, Onuoha encouraged women experiencing abuse to leave harmful relationships rather than remain in environments that endanger their wellbeing or that of their children.
"There is a problem in Igbo land," she repeatedly stated, urging both men and women to reflect on their actions and contribute to creating safer and healthier communities.
