Napoli left Victor Osimhen out of their squad to face Moden in the Coppa Italia on Saturday. The 25-year-old is expected to leave the club this summer with Chelsea still chasing his signature.

Managed by Antonio Conte, the Serie A side have chosen to go without Osimhen despite him being involved in training during pre-season. All parties expect the striker to depart before the end of the transfer window.

Chelsea are still looking at Osimhen as an option as they try to sell Romelu Lukaku. He could go the opposite way, moving back to Italy to be reunited with Conte.

It has been suggested that the two clubs could complete a part-swap deal including Osimhen and Lukaku. Chelsea are exploring options to bring in the Nigerian on loan for the 2024/25 season.

Osimhen's agent, Roberto Calenda, has hit back at this though. He wrote on Twitter/X: “I read about imaginative exchanges with Victor sent here and there as if he were a package to be delivered quickly. This package, however, is the top scorer of the third scudetto in Napoli's history. Respect and stop with fake news!!!!”

Not going as far as rubbishing the news, but more demanding that his client is not described as an object, Calenda's comments have left the door open for a transfer still. Meanwhile, Chelsea are closing in on signing Atletico Madrid striker Samu Omorodion.
