The Government Has Failed Us, Nigerians Are Traumatised – Singer Nasboi On Worsening Insecurity - 6 hours ago

Nigerian singer and skit maker Nasboi has delivered a searing critique of the country’s security situation, accusing the government of abandoning its core duty to protect citizens and warning that ordinary Nigerians are living in constant fear.

In a passionate video shared on social media, Nasboi said the wave of kidnappings, bandit attacks and killings across the country has left people traumatised, yet many still retreat into tribal and political divisions instead of confronting the crisis together.

He stressed that insecurity has become a national plague that does not recognise ethnicity, religion or social class. According to him, bandits and criminal gangs are “killing everybody,” from villagers and commuters to students and professionals, while authorities appear either overwhelmed or indifferent.

Nasboi questioned what he described as the absence of a coherent security strategy in states repeatedly hit by attacks. He challenged leaders to explain how heavily armed groups continue to operate with ease on major highways and in rural communities despite repeated promises of decisive action.

The entertainer warned that those who feel insulated by wealth or political connections are deluding themselves, arguing that if the situation continues to deteriorate, no one will be spared. He said the growing sense of helplessness among citizens is itself a form of trauma, as people now plan their daily lives around fear of abduction or violence.

Calling for a united response, Nasboi urged Nigerians to put aside ethnic rivalries, partisan loyalties and religious differences and speak with one voice. He insisted that waiting for celebrities or a few outspoken figures to lead the conversation is no longer enough, and that every citizen must demand accountability from those in power.

He also encouraged Nigerians to obtain and use their Permanent Voter Cards, arguing that meaningful change requires both public pressure and political participation. Beyond criticism, he appealed for a collective search for solutions, saying the country cannot afford to normalise bloodshed or treat each new tragedy as just another headline.

For Nasboi, the message is stark: the government has failed in its basic responsibility to secure lives and property, and only a united, vocal and determined citizenry can force a different outcome.
