Tinubu Names Olatunji Bello As New FCCPC CEO - 1 year ago

President Bola Tinubu has named Olatunji Bello as the new Chief Executive Officer/Executive Vice-Chairman of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC). This appointment, pending Senate confirmation, was announced by Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity.

Bello is expected to lead the Commission in protecting and promoting the interests and welfare of Nigerian consumers, as well as ensuring the safety and quality of goods and services.

Bello brings a diverse background to the role, being a lawyer, administrator, and renowned journalist. He holds a Master's degree in International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos, where he also studied law before being called to the Nigerian Bar in 2002.

Starting his career in journalism with Concord Newspapers in 1985, Bello held various positions including Group Political Editor, Sunday Concord Editor, and Editor of National Concord. He is a recipient of the US Alfred Friendly Press Fellowship and served as Chairman of the Editorial Board of THISDAY Newspapers in 2001. Additionally, Bello has experience in public administration, having served as the Commissioner for Environment under different administrations in Lagos State, and as the former Secretary to the Lagos State Government.

President Tinubu anticipates that Bello will ensure the comprehensive realization of the FCCPC's mandate, focusing on consumer protection and the enhancement of goods and services quality in Nigeria.
